Jamie Weissglass is a Senior Director of Business Development and Client Solutions. She has a little over ten years of experience in the legal industry and has been working with Consilio for about seven. Jamie earned both her Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania and her Juris Doctorate from Fordham University. How did you get into the field of eDiscovery?

As a practicing litigator, I became increasingly frustrated with the eDiscovery process and saw an opportunity to make it less painful. My unique perspective and expertise empowered me to bridge a communication gap between lawyers and technologists. In this regard, I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time. I am grateful to be able to leverage my experience to guide lawyers towards achieving their goals in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Who has been influential in your career to help get you to where you are today?

Peter Ostrega has been my mentor since my first day at Consilio. He is truly someone I do my best to emulate every day. The emphasis he places on internal relationships and ensuring a complete understanding of mechanics behind our processes is extremely rare and effective. His record-breaking achievements continuously motivate me to do better.

What is your advice to women in a male-dominated workplace?

Don’t be intimidated. There are many things that women do and know better than male counterparts. Regardless of this, our unique experiences and perspectives can be refreshing and help foster innovation.

How do you stay updated on the latest trends and news in the industry?

I subscribe to a number of different legal publications and make sure to “never eat alone”. We also have an amazing team at Consilio that aggregates and digests relevant headlines and articles from legal sources on a daily basis.

Likewise, I make it a point to be out in the market. This allows me to speak with people from diverse backgrounds, expertise, etc. about their experiences, challenges, and predictions for the future.

What are your techniques for self-care and organization?

Meditation. Honestly, just staying organized and diligent. My inbox, for example, has a folder for every client with a sub-folder for every project. Similarly, I color-code my calendar to prioritize my “to-dos” for the day and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. Finally, collaborating with my colleagues to solve challenges, and knowing I am part of a team, reduces stress for me. I know that my colleagues will do everything in their power to address our clients’ needs and accommodate their goals.

When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?

I spend my free time with my clients, who are now my friends, my family, and eating food (mainly sushi)!
